I find sympathy under your skin
some velvet empath pressed
against the whispers of night.

Beneath moonbeams strokes
filtering through illuminated Columbus;
my home is where your arms
capture me effortlessly,
a feather breath
slipping down supine spine.

As words pass effortlessly
in a moment soon lost on crisp sheets,
solace is exponential
and shared,
we ignore the haze of halo
around dying satellite phoebe.

It is now I yield
listening to the tempo of your chest.
I surrender,
to the beat of tomorrow
strumming beneath my fingertips,
hope overtakes sorrow,
as a safe darkness
duvets this second,

where sympathy is found,
beneath your skin.
