Hope

The sky radiated azure blue
And birdsong resonated.
Frozen bare branches
reach for the frigid sun
On a November morning.

The mountains, ancient monoliths
forged from fire
hued in multicoloured jackets,
Watch, and observe the morning
Sunlight tickling their curves
Warming their underbellies.

Here I stand,
My coffee steaming
in assault of the cold.
Surrounded by the ice cool
air as I take in the scene.
And it gives me hope.
